Plenty of Naples clubs are expensive. A much smaller set is genuinely exclusive, and the defining traits are consistent: (a) admission by invitation, (b) a hard cap on the roster — typically 250 to 275 members — and (c) no homes attached, so nobody can buy their way in through a lot purchase. These are pure golf clubs, and they are the hardest doors in town.
The template for Naples exclusivity: admission is by invitation only, bylaws cap membership at 250, and there is no residential real estate — the club exists for golf alone. Its Tom Fazio course is irrigated with brackish water on salt-tolerant Seashore Paspalum turf the club itself funded research to develop. In October 2021 the club was acquired by the Naples-based Hoffmann Family of Companies for more than $45 million.

How do you actually join one? Almost always through members who sponsor you — which is why the practical route for most buyers runs through the ranked private clubs with real estate or the reported-fee rankings.
Old Collier Golf Club is the standard-bearer: invitation-only, capped at 250 members by its bylaws, with no residential real estate. Calusa Pines (about 275 members) and Naples National run the same model.
